major trouble with uptime

olafmolilink
Hello,

we're currently into some major dotCMS uptime./stability issues. The
dotCMS process starts hanging after a few minutes when we start it up,
we kill it, restart it, and it goes down in a big pile of  heap
errors.
We see that it starts with running a spellchecker thread, is there a
way to disable this, as it seems to claim a lot of resources?

Olaf

Olaf:

A few questions:

1) how many max connections do you allow to your db?  how many open
conenctions do you have?  if you view connections, does anything stand out
as locked?

2) What are your memory settings?  How much is allocated?  What JVM are you
using?  Which cache size/config are you using?

3) what are your tomcat settings / max connections, waiting, etc...

Hi Will & others,

maxActive=80, maxIdle=10, maxWait=60000

-Xms2800m -Xmx2800m -XX:SurvivorRatio=32 -XX:PermSize=128m

maxThreads set to 100, connectionTimeout to 3000

The (sole?) issue was the ps old gen space filling up rapidly (I've seen
it fill up in seconds tonight), consequently the jvm chokes on the GC
and refuses to respond.

After disabling and re-enabling a bunch of plugins it all seems to be
behaving the way it should (load, cpu, mem usage). Disabling KeepAlive
on the apache proxy might have helped too, its getting late ;)

We're closely monitoring it, will report whatever we learn back to the list!

regards,
